Cubic Feet and Square Feet Differences

Cubic feet and square feet are both units of measurement but measure different things. A cubic foot measures the volume of a three-dimensional space while a square foot measures the area of a two-dimensional surface.

To put it simply, a cubic foot is the amount of space occupied by a cube with sides that measure one foot each whereas a square foot is the area of a square with sides that measure one foot each.

For example, if you have a room that is 12 feet wide and 12 feet long, its area would be 144 square feet (12 feet x 12 feet). However, if the ceiling in that room is 10 feet high, the total volume of the room would be 1440 cubic feet (12 feet x 12 feet x 10 feet).
