How to calculate bricks in a wall with brick calculator
Bricks are generally formed with clay or shale. The bricks are baked through kiln. The bricks are often placed in courses or rows, and retained in exact location by positioning in a bed of mortar and stuffing all of the joints with mortar.
One can use the brick calculator to work out the brick quantities required for wall, chimney and other projects. Just provide the dimensions of the wall or surface as well as the type and size of brick to be utilized and the calculator will compute the necessary material. Alternatively, obtain an estimated cost of materials with the inclusion of the price per brick.
The type of brick selected will find out the number of bricks required for a wall or chimney since each type of brick contains a slightly different size. The requirement of the materials is based on the thickness of the mortar bed. The brick calculator presumes a 3⁄8” mortar bed.
How to work out the required number of bricks
A wall constructed with a standard modular brick will need 7 bricks per square foot for completion of the project. Projects with various types of brick sizes will need a different amount. To make a perfect estimate, abide by the steps, given below :-
Determine square footage of the wall
To work out the required number of bricks for a wall, initially, find out the area to be covered, in ft2. For this purpose, calculate the width and height of your wall or surface. After that, determine the area in square footage by multiplying the width of the wall in feet with the height of the wall in feet. As for instance, a 10′ wide wall with 8′ high would cover 80 ft2.
Determine square footage of each brick
Once the area of the surface is known, determine the area that each brick will encompass. To simplify the process, just get the ft2 of each brick and divide with 144 for changing in2 to ft2. It should be kept in mind that there will also be a 3⁄8” mortar joint among each brick.

Determine how many bricks fill the wall
To determine the number of bricks required to cover your area, just divide the square footage of the area to be covered with the square footage of the brick (wall ft2 ÷ brick ft2). As for instance, to determine the number of modular bricks to cover the 80 ft2 wall, the following formula will be used :-
80 ÷ .1458 = 549 bricks
It is suggested to include 10% supplementary material to cover any waste and to consider any broken blocks or cuts.
The brick calculator offers more accurate formula as well as considers partial bricks and cutoffs automatically.
